Working in partnership to devise the best IT solutions

David James and Partners (DJ&P) are chartered surveyors providing a specialist service for property owners, landowners and farmers.

Premieredge were already providing IT services for DJ&P when Teresa took over as resources manager. She was tasked to look at the company’s suppliers and whether they could justify the cost of using each of them. The review was based both on the amount being paid and the service being received, so it was not solely about cost.

An IT company that invests time in understanding the business

A meeting was arranged with Premieredge, where it became clear that they completely understood the business and DJ&P’s requirements. Teresa also appreciated how honest and upfront Premieredge were when discussing how things could be done, and how well they listened to what she was trying to achieve.

The relationship now is such that when looking at a new product or service, DJ&P and Premieredge work together on costings to devise the best solution, both from a service and cost point of view.

Smooth introduction of a new server

Following the growth of the company, it was recognised that there was a need for a new server. This was complicated by the fact that the company operates over three sites. People at each site, and from within different departments, need to be able to access information on the server.

A decision was made to have the main server sited at the Old Sodbury office where Teresa was based, enabling Teresa to oversee the installation first-hand. The server was designed in such a way that the other offices have access too.

Teresa described the process of introducing the new server as ‘brilliant’. It was completed smoothly with almost no downtime.
